My good friend, the scholar Gong Jing, from Sichuan University, Chengdu, has undertaken to translate the twenty essays on Australian literature published as The Well in the Shadow. The first of these is about Judith Wright’s two contrasting books about her ancestors’ role in Australian settlement, and others will appear here as they are completed.
